One of my favorite Rumi quotes is:
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field. I'll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about.” RUMI
Because to me it so perfectly sums up this journey to find healing around food and eating.
We can get stuck in the right and wrong of “food rules”, but out Beyond there is a place where you can just lay down in the grass, look at the sky (or if you a beach person substitute lay on the beach and look at the sun… or for the forest people lay in a hammock and look up at the leaves…or maybe the city people walk down the street and look at the lights)…and all is okay and you are okay and everything is peaceful and you are at peace and you are whole and you are enough.
But really my point is when we really let go of ideas of good or bad food choices, we get to find the eating choices that are best for us and heal our relationship with food. And as great as it is to have a healthy relationship with food and eating, this isn’t even the best part! Then we get to live a life filled with experiences we love and with people we love, and then we can make a difference in the world. All because we struggled with food and eating, we get to find our way to peace and healing and joyfulness!
I don’t know about you, but I want to hang out there in peace and healing and joyfulness as much as possible…Beyond ideas of right doing and wrongdoing!
